Python statistics.mode() Method
Python statistics.mode()Used to calculate the mode of a given dataset.
Syntax
The syntax of the statistics.mode() method is as follows:
statistics.mode(data)
Parameter description:
- data-- An iterable containing numeric values, such as a list or tuple.
Return Value
The function calculates and returns the mode of the dataset as the result.
The mode is the value or set of values that appear most frequently in the dataset.
Examples
The following example demonstrates the usage of the mode() function:
Examples
data = [1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5]
mode = statistics.mode(data)
print(mode)
Output result:
4
In the above example, the given dataset is [1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5], and the mode() method calculates the mode as 4.
Note that if the dataset has multiple modes with the same frequency, the mode() method will return the smallest mode.
The mode() method is commonly used to analyze the central tendency and common values in a dataset. In some cases, the dataset may have no mode or multiple modes; in such cases, you can catchstatistics.StatisticsErrorexceptions to handle this situation.
