Definition and Usage

The <s> tag marks text that is incorrect, inaccurate, or no longer useful.

The <s> tag should not be used to define replaced or deleted text. To define replaced or deleted text, use the<del>tag.

Differences Between HTML 4.01 and HTML5

In HTML 4.01, the <s> elementis deprecated, used to add a strikethrough to text.
