Definition and Usage

The utf8_decode() function decodes a UTF-8 string to ISO-8859-1.

This function decodes an ISO-8859-1 string encoded by the utf8_encode() function, converting it to a single-byte ISO-8859-1 string.

If successful, the function returns the decoded string. If it fails, it returns FALSE.

Syntax

utf8_decode(string)

Parameter Description
string Required. Specifies the string to be decoded.
