PHP Array Sorting

Elements in an array can be sorted in ascending or descending order, alphabetically or numerically.

PHP - Array Sorting Functions

In this chapter, we will introduce the following PHP array sorting functions one by one:

  • sort() - Sort arrays in ascending order
  • rsort() - Sort arrays in descending order
  • asort() - Sort associative arrays in ascending order, according to the value
  • ksort() - Sort associative arrays in ascending order, according to the key
  • arsort() - Sort associative arrays in descending order, according to the value
  • krsort() - Sort associative arrays in descending order, according to the key

sort() - Sort arrays in ascending order

The following example sorts the elements of the $cars array in alphabetical ascending order:
