The FILTER_SANITIZE_STRIPPED filter removes or encodes unwanted characters.

This filter is an alias for the FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING filter.

This filter removes data that is potentially harmful to the application. It is used to remove tags and to delete or encode unwanted characters.

Possible options or flags:

  • FILTER_FLAG_NO_ENCODE_QUOTES - This flag does not encode quotes.
  • FILTER_FLAG_STRIP_LOW - Strips characters with ASCII value below 32.

  • FILTER_FLAG_ENCODE_LOW - Encodes characters with ASCII value below 32.
