Linux Command Reference

The Linux set command is used to configure the shell.

The set command can configure the execution mode of the shell in use, and settings can be made according to different needs.

Syntax

set [+-abCdefhHklmnpPtuvx]

Parameter description：

• -a Mark modified variables for output to environment variables.
• -b Cause terminated background programs to immediately report execution status.
• -C Redirected output files cannot overwrite existing files.
• -d The shell uses a hash table by default to remember used commands to speed up command execution. The -d parameter can disable this.
• -e If the command return value is not equal to 0, immediately exit the shell.
• -f Cancel the use of wildcards.
• -h Automatically record the location of functions.
• -H The shell can use "!" plus <command number> to execute commands recorded in history.
• -k All parameters given to the command will be treated as environment variables of this command.
• -l Record variable names in for loops.
• -m Use monitor mode.
• -n Only read commands without actually executing them.
• -p Start priority order mode.
• -P After enabling the -P parameter, actual files or directories will replace symbolic links when executing commands.
• -t Exit the shell after executing the following command.
• -u Display an error message when an undefined variable is used during execution.
• -v Display the input values read by the shell.
• -x After executing a command, display the command and its parameters first.
• +<parameter> Cancel a parameter that was previously enabled by set.
