Definition and Usage

The defaultMuted attribute sets or returns whether the audio/video is muted by default.

Setting this attribute only changes the default muted state, not the current one. To change the current muted state, usemutedProperty.

Only Chrome and Safari 6 support the defaultMuted attribute.

Syntax

Set the defaultMuted property:

audio|video.defaultMuted=true|false

Return the defaultMuted property:

audio|video.defaultMuted

Property value

Value Description
true Indicates whether the audio/video is muted by default.
false Default. Indicates that the audio/video is not muted by default.
