Our tiredness
The project goes live tomorrow, working all night to fix bugs, so tired.
Requirements keep changing, when will this project end? So tired.
Existing technologies are becoming obsolete and facing elimination, with a pile of new technologies to learn, so tired.
Four hours of commuting in total every day, so tired.
Have to get up at six every day to go to work, so tired.
Have to take the crowded subway again, so tired.
。。。
Why do we get tired
A good night's sleep turned into an all-night overtime shift, disrupting the daily routine and disturbing the biological clock. When we should be resting, we still have to face immense mental pressure to fix bugs, suddenly feeling physically and mentally exhausted.
Requirements keep changing. Our hard work is not recognized, does not shine, and may inadvertently become wasted effort. Under such circumstances, we may even face overtime because of tight schedules and do wasted work again. Thinking about it, such days feel exhausting, as if the sun and moon have lost their light.
Having painstakingly, diligently studied some knowledge and skills day and night, I finally found a job and could make a living. But in just a few days, these technologies face elimination. So I have to painstakingly, diligently study new technologies day and night again. I really want to say, what a rip-off! Can't we still play happily with our friends? Can't we still eat hot pot and sing songs?
There are 24 hours in a day: 8 hours for work, 8 hours for sleep, 2 hours for meals, leaving 6 hours. But two-thirds of that remaining time has to be spent commuting. So here's the question: is there still time to play games, time to learn new knowledge, time to brag with friends, time to date girls? One or two days is fine, but every day being like this, what meaning is there in such a monotonous life?
Getting up at six every day for work, before dawn, with biting cold wind, dragging a hungry body, using all my strength, I finally squeezed into the subway filled with all kinds of smells. Then I discovered that in the crowded crowd, I learned to stand on one leg like a golden rooster, master the "Qiankun Great Shift", and dream of being Zhang Wuji. A few beeps pull you back to reality. You finally realize that the farthest distance in the world is not the distance between life and death, but when the subway arrives, you just get off, only to be pushed back on by the powerful crowd. Such a life is so tiring.

Are others tired?
We are so tired, we are so miserable. Are we the only ones? Let's open our eyes wide and look at other people.
Farmers, working from dawn to dusk, wind and sun, are they tired?
Salespeople, often accompanied by cigarettes and alcohol, are they tired?
Chefs, living in oil smoke every day, are they tired?
Managers, agonizing over project progress and deadlines every day, are they tired?
Leaders: middle managers have pressure from top management, top managers from the boss, and the boss from survival pressure and pressure from shareholders and investors. Are they tired?
There are many more; I won't list them all one by one here.
In this lifetime, perhaps we are only happy in childhood. Primary school: all kinds of homework; middle school: pressure of entering higher school; high school: pressure of entering university; university: pressure of finding a job; after graduation: pressure of getting married; after marriage: time to have children. After having children, you realize you will be busy for decades. When the children grow up, you grow old, but in old age you still face all kinds of illnesses... Thinking about it, in this lifetime, are we ever not tired?
Are others tired?—A different approach
Farmers, working from dawn to dusk, wind and sun, hard work in exchange for a bountiful harvest. Only by giving can you gain. Tired? Worth it!
Salespeople, often accompanied by cigarettes and alcohol, all kinds of promotion, dealing with cigarettes and alcohol, running around, in exchange for contracts one after another. Only by giving can you gain. Tired? Worth it!
Chefs, living in oil smoke every day, pots and pans, axes and hooks, all kinds of skills in exchange for delicious meals with perfect color, aroma, and taste. Only by giving can you gain. Tired? Worth it!
Managers, agonizing over project progress and deadlines every day, budgeting carefully, in exchange for the normal launch of projects and timely release of products. Only by giving can you gain. Tired? Worth it!
Leaders: middle managers have pressure from top management, top managers from the boss, and the boss from survival pressure and pressure from shareholders and investors. Where there is pressure, there is motivation; where there is motivation, results can be achieved. Only by giving can you gain. Tired? Worth it!
In this lifetime, birth, aging, illness, death, all kinds of pressure. Only with pressure can you experience the joy of overcoming it; only after suffering can you appreciate the beauty of life. If you work hard and give, you will certainly gain something. Even if tired, it's worth it!
How to not be tired—Keep a good attitude
Having said so much, it's not to illustrate differences between professions, nor to show the superiority of certain people. It's just to explain that with a different mindset, the world in your eyes will be vastly different.

When encountering problems, just try your best to solve them. If you can solve them, it shows your ability; if you can't, there's no need to die for it. You still have to eat and sleep; life goes on. Why be depressed and torment yourself? Keep a good mood and face the next challenge.

Writing so much and giving so many examples is not as good as remembering one sentence: no matter what, keep a good mood and be kind to yourself.
The root of tiredness—Lack of exercise
Humans are animals after all, so we need appropriate exercise every day. Why "appropriate"? Farmers, workers, athletes, etc., due to excessive workload and exercise, overload their bodies and suffer many injuries. But we programmers, due to sitting for long periods and moving little, experience reduced body functions, weakened immunity, and are prone to fatigue and even injuries.
Programmers—this profession leads to a general lack of exercise. So when body problems arise, people always blame the profession. Actually, this is being irresponsible to oneself. No matter how many reasons there are, they are just excuses for laziness. The so-called "no time" is simply not wanting to have time.
Playing games, watching movies—can't you spare ten minutes to stretch your muscles and do some push-ups and sit-ups?
Actually, as long as you want to, we can find time to exercise anytime, anywhere. If you live close to the company, run to and from work; if far away, treat squeezing onto the subway as exercise; take the stairs instead of the elevator; while browsing Weibo or Moments, do a horse stance; when you close the door and are alone, perform a set of primitive boxing—however you want to move, however crazy you want to be, drunker than drunken boxing... For the rest, everyone can use their imagination.
As fellow programmers, take a look at how others do it:

Even a marathon has come up. Is it really so hard to run a lap around the software park?

Put yourself in others' shoes—Empathy
When I first started working, I took over a Portal that had been outsourced. The code was a mess—no comments, no documentation, and tons of bugs. Maintaining that code was like living in dire straits. Sometimes I even wanted to curse the author's ancestors for eighteen generations.
Later, I was in charge of a new project. After organizing the requirements, I started research, outline design, detailed design, coding, and testing. It was beyond words—simply "M-Zone, my zone, my rules." No documentation, few comments, all kinds of features and styles everywhere.
Later, I took over a database module. Based on the detailed design document, I quickly gained an overall understanding of the module. Even the reasons for choosing a certain framework, problems encountered before, current existing issues, improvement ideas, etc., were all written in great detail. The code had many comments. Overall, it felt very comfortable.
At this time, looking back at my own project, what difference was there from the previous Portal? When someday someone else takes over maintaining this code, and because of me, he or they live in dire straits, I can't bear it. It doesn't make sense emotionally or rationally.
Put yourself in others' shoes, treat others with empathy. Unified comments, documentation, and code style, good overall readability and maintainability, bringing comfort to those who come after. Wouldn't you also feel gratified?
Stop crazy learning—Summarizing is also progress
In the first two years, shortly after starting work, I had a lot of free time and not too many things to distract me, so I focused all my energy on learning. Basically every day I would browse technical websites like Blog Park (cnblogs) to absorb the latest technical knowledge. Then I would read books for systematic learning.
Because my thirst for knowledge was too strong, I always wanted to learn new things. Basically, after finishing one book, I would read the next. In a year, I read dozens of books. From programming languages to compiler theory, from system programming to system kernels, from object-oriented to functional programming, from inter-machine communication to multithreading and concurrency, from Web frontend to big data processing. All of these were basically knowledge used in work, or knowledge I was interested in, or future development trends. Although I dabbled a lot, unfortunately I haven't reached the level of never forgetting after reading. It seemed I knew everything, but actually I knew nothing. By now, I've forgotten at least 90% of the content of the books I've read, and for another part, I may only know a concept. Fortunately, I still have time. Through all this dabbling, I basically determined my development direction. This is the only thing worth affirming.
My approach can be considered typical. With improper methods, no matter how much you learn, it may all become futile. For ordinary people, only reading books without practicing can only reach the level of understanding. Only through continuous practice, summarizing, digestion, and absorption can you truly master this knowledge.
Keep a good attitude. Remember not to be impetuous, restless, or seek quick success and instant benefits. Stop crazy learning—summarizing is also progress.
Good habits benefit a lifetime
In summer, the green lawn often has a bare corner. After observing a few times, I found that many passersby, when walking to the corner of the lawn, did not make a right-angle turn, but cut straight across this corner of the lawn. Gradually, this corner became bare. Finally I understood Lu Xun's saying: There is no road in the world; when many people walk on it, it becomes a road.
A seemingly insignificant thing may affect a person's entire life.
Cutting across the lawn seems like taking a shortcut. If you do it once, there will be a second time. Gradually it becomes a habit. Subtly, it may affect your character, and you may become a person who loves taking shortcuts. So habits are very important.
So start cultivating good habits from now on. Persist in exercising every day to keep fit, summarize your gains every day, summarize the knowledge you have learned every day, write notes, and publish a blog. It shouldn't take long before you become an expert, or at least a master.
Good habits benefit you for a lifetime.
Cherish the present—Enjoy life
We always look back on the past, recalling its innocence, its unrestrained freedom, its ease and comfort. Especially when we encounter difficulties or suffer from illness or injury, we can't help sighing at the beauty of the past. The more we do this, the more we should cherish the present and live the present life well. Let the future self look back on the past with more beautiful memories.
Life is not a video game; there is no save file, and you cannot start over. Whether rich or poor, noble or humble, whether in sickness, aging, or death, all of it is part of life. Including endless overtime, including endless bugs. After fixing a bug, look up at the deep night sky; after finishing overtime, enjoy the beautiful sunrise. Why not?
No matter what, life continues. Cherish the present, enjoy life, and live your true self.
Persistence is victory
There is a kind of courage called endurance, and a kind of strength called persistence.
When night covers the earth and the moon has not yet risen, deep in the mountains, walking alone, wolves howl and apes cry.
He is just a traveler; ahead are towering peaks, not just one, but rolling and undulating. What he must do is reach the other side of the mountains.
There is no shortcut; he can only walk step by step. When tired, rest against a blue stone; when hungry, take a bite of hard dry rations; when homesick, quicken his pace.
A person living with a goal can turn fatigue into motivation and complaints into miracles.
And the only thing one can do is persist.
Because the other side of the mountains is called success.
What matters is constancy; why rise at the third watch and sleep at the fifth? The most useless thing is to be exposed to the sun for one day and then chilled for ten.
Many things are very easy once or twice, but persisting over a long period is very difficult.
Why do we developers feel tired? It may be because we don't exercise, or haven't kept up exercising.
Persisting in doing one thing for one month, two months, one year, or two years may not be very difficult. But what about persisting for a lifetime? How many people can do it?
Precisely because persistence is difficult, when we truly start to persist in doing something, we are bound to gain something. The longer we persist, the more we gain.
Persistence is victory!
Easier said than done—Cultivate your mind
Everyone understands the truth, but it is easier said than done.
People all have emotions and desires; it is impossible to always have a good mood and a positive attitude. As long as you strive to do it and try to maintain a good attitude, that is already very good.
In the dead of night, before going to sleep, close your eyes and rest, let your heart return to tranquility, reflect on gains and losses, reflect on life. By constantly cultivating yourself, it will surely be easier to maintain a good attitude.
Summary
My writing is too poor, full of nonsense. I wrote so much just to express one meaning: I hope everyone persists in exercising, maintains a good attitude, faces life optimistically, and smiles at life.
